About the museum
In December 1994 the social cooperative CI.DI.S., which runs socio-educational services for older people, set up the “Mostra della civiltà contadina” by gathering everyday objects, furniture from farmhouses and farm tools. Its aim was to preserve the historical and social memory of work in the fields and to pass it on to new generations.
The display is in the entrance hall of the Palazzo Ducale, the seat of the Municipality, and is divided into two sections: the peasant house, with household objects and furniture, and work in the fields, with the tools used throughout the wheat production cycle. Later, a section on traditional costumes and a collection of documents and notarial deeds of historical significance were added. The cooperative has published two catalogues (1994 and 1999) and, in 2002, a multimedia CD-ROM, which won a regional competition.
