About the museum
The museum opened in autumn 1997, thanks to the commitment of a group of volunteers passionate about the rural history of the Bassa Veronese (the lower Verona plain). Its aim is to save and preserve what remains of the tools, work implements and household furnishings that bear witness to how earlier generations lived and worked.
The museum is housed in a large building annexed to Villa Brà, a 17th-century rural estate in Bonferraro. The exhibition area covers around 500 square metres, divided into three large halls and several smaller rooms.
The objects are arranged by theme, retracing the different stages of rural life: work, domestic life and leisure. The route includes farm tools, the rice paddy, weights and measures, the cellar, the farmhouse, games, the school, the laundry and the craft workshops of the blacksmith, carpenter, cooper, chair-caner, shoemaker, seamstress, barber and knitter. There is also a miniature amusement park.
After the visit you can take a break in the Italian-style garden or stroll through the English-style park of Villa Brà.
