Have only individual sections read aloud
About the museum
The museum was set up from 1984 by Professor Francesco Le Donne, who researched the history of the village’s districts and collected objects of work and everyday life. Initially it was housed in the town hall, in Piazza Carolina; the Abruzzo Region recognised it as a museum of local interest in December 1992, and in 2006 it was named in memory of Le Donne. In 2011, for the bicentenary of the village, it moved to the present building in the municipal park.
A first section illustrates the history of Ateleta with books, photographs and reproductions of old documents. The main collection, made up of objects donated by the inhabitants, is spread across six rooms devoted to transport, agriculture and livestock, traditional crafts, the kitchen and the bedroom. Outside, a mural of 2018 continues the story of the village.
