About the museum
The museum presents testimonies of the culture of fishing and of life along the shores of Lake Garda. The display is curated by the association “Amici del Gondolin” and is housed in the Sala Radetzky, the former powder laboratory of the artillery barracks at Porta Verona, within the fortified system of Peschiera.
The route presents boats typical of the lake, largely donated by members and residents, including an anguillara (eel boat) from the late 19th century recovered by the Sub Club Peschiera. Alongside the boats are displayed work and hunting tools linked to life on the lake, such as the torbetta, a container for keeping the catch alive, and a large spingarda (punt gun) for duck hunting.
One room is devoted to the calafati (caulkers), the craftsmen who built and repaired boats, with their tools. The collection is completed by period outboard motors, lampare (fishing lamps), nets of various types, fishing rods and historical photographs with detailed captions.
