About the museum
La Piccola Caprera is the house in Ponti sul Mincio which Major Fulvio Balisti, who died in 1959, bequeathed to the volunteers he had commanded in the North African campaign, so that they would have a meeting place and a place of remembrance for their fallen comrades.
The veterans founded a museum there in 1960, which began with a few relics and was expanded over time; the establishment of the Museo Reggimentale is also dated to 1962. Today the collection occupies both the interior rooms and the outdoor areas of the property.
The most valuable documentation consists of Balisti’s private writings: notes, memories, poems and plays, official letters and personal correspondence. The association’s website also traces the history of the Reggimento Giovani Fascisti, formed by young volunteers in 1940–1941, and keeps relics linked to that military episode.
