About the museum
The Museo diocesano di Reggio Emilia is housed in the bishop’s palace on Via Vittorio Veneto and is run by the diocese of Reggio Emilia-Guastalla, within the Museum, archives and libraries sector of the curia. The museum opened in 1994.
The exhibition route tells the history of the Church in the territory of Reggio through the ecclesiastical structures that have operated there. It highlights the cathedral, a sign of unity around the bishop, the pievi (parish districts), where the sacraments were administered, and the monasteries, understood as centres of hospitality, work and culture.
