About the museum
The museum was inaugurated on 27 October 2012 in Milan, beside the diocesan sanctuary dedicated to the Blessed Don Carlo Gnocchi. It occupies the spaces of the former chapel of the IRCCS Centro Santa Maria Nascente, a Milan facility of the Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi.
The collection brings together mainly objects that belonged to the priest: his typewriter, liturgical vestments, the alpine hat and boots, the chalice of his first Mass, some medals, a field altar, a large library with breviaries, the Fiat Topolino and the Guzzi Galletto motorcycle. A crypt holds the old sarcophagus donated by the alpini (Alpine soldiers), used before the remains were transferred to the new sanctuary.
The route also includes films and audiovisual archive documents. The Foundation describes the museum as a project in continuous development, which is enriched with new objects linked to the life and work of the Blessed.
