About the museum
The museum was founded in 1970 at the Capuchin friary in Bari and displays material collected by the missionary fathers.
The rooms hold musical instruments and masks from Mozambique, Ethiopian lyres and flutes, coins from the period of Portuguese colonial rule, fans made of palm leaves, and ivory and wooden objects, which partly document African cultures and civilizations. One room recreates a typical dwelling of the peoples of Mozambique.
