About the museum
The museum is run by the Anthracotherium natural history group, founded in 2001 to make known and promote the Bregonze hills in the Alto Vicentino. The association also looks after the nearby Roccolo Moschele (a traditional bird-trapping structure), presented as the only roccolo with educational purposes in the province.
The collection grew out of donations from enthusiasts and scholars and is expanded through the work of volunteer members. It includes rocks and minerals from the area, fossils typical of the hills and entomological boxes with the insect species of the region.
In addition to visits to the museum, the group offers school programmes, workshops, courses in herbal medicine and archaeology, themed evenings, photography exhibitions and nature excursions.
