About the museum
The Regional Museum of Natural Sciences “Efisio Noussan” is housed in the castle of Saint-Pierre, in the locality of Tâche. After a major restoration it reopened in December 2022 with a new display that links the history and architecture of the castle with the natural sciences of the region.
The museum has two sites: the castle hosts the exhibition and outreach space, while the operational headquarters in La Salle handles research, conservation and educational activities.
The route unfolds over 16 rooms on three levels, with multimedia stations, images and reconstructions on the history of the castle, Alpine biodiversity, glaciers, mines, the waters and forests of the Aosta Valley, and high-altitude meadows. The best-known specimen is the Lyskamm marmot, mummified and considered the oldest in Italy.
