About the museum
The Museum of the Upper Val Venosta is located in Curon Venosta (Graun im Vinschgau). It documents the construction of the dam and the flooding of 1950, when Lake Resia submerged part of the villages of Curon Vecchia and Resia, forcing families to leave their homes and launching the rebuilding of the villages.
The exhibition brings together historical photographs, models, sacred objects from the churches of the vanished villages and everyday objects; a traditional stube is also part of the route. The museum is linked to the famous bell tower standing submerged in the lake and to the Sant'Anna chapel above Curon, which was spared from the flooding.
In the summer months guided tours can be booked in advance. Opening times must be requested from the municipality of Curon Venosta.
