About the museum
The Tehnikas un mākslas telpa “Elevators” (Technology and Art Space “Elevators”) is located in a historic elevator building in Alūksne, which is itself an important testimony to industrial heritage. Across three floors of the building there is an extensive collection of retro cars reflecting different eras of car making, as well as other historic technology and household objects.
One floor houses an exhibition in which each item is linked to Alūksne and its surroundings. The collection is complemented by works by the local artist Teodors Paulovics and paintings by the artist Herberts Ernests Siliņš. The collection is changing and being added to.
