About the museum
The football club NAC was formed in 1912 through the merger of two clubs and became Dutch champion in 1921. At the beginning of the 21st century the Supportersraad wanted to dedicate a museum of its own to the club's rich history. To that end, a group of volunteers founded the Stichting NAC Museum on 7 July 2000; it has had ANBI status since 2014.
The museum was opened on 22 February 2002 by the then mayor Chris Rutten and Cees van Haperen. An empty space beneath Block G of the Rat Verlegh Stadion was converted for this purpose into a setting for the life story of NAC. The focus is on anecdotes and relics rather than trophies. In 2013 water damage caused great harm; in 2015 the museum was fully rebuilt and reopened, larger than before.
The “museum treasures” include a season ticket from the 1935/36 season, the announcement sign for the cup final of 7 June 1967, the golden clock from the 1921 championship, the entrance sign of the open standing terrace from the 1993/94 season, a “NAC Klanken” programme from 1958 and the NAC clock that hung from 1928 to 1957. The museum is run by volunteers and funded by donors, sponsors and donations.
