About the museum
Princenhage was once an independent municipality and is now a district of Breda. The museum preserves and documents the cultural heritage of this village: documents, photographs and objects relating to everyday life and the history of the former municipality form the collection from which changing exhibitions are put together.
Before it had its own building, exhibitions were shown in the hall of the neighbouring cemetery. The current building on Haagweg was put into use in 2017 and has offered considerably more space ever since. It is run by the Stichting Princenhaags Museum, supported by a board and volunteers.
In addition to the local heritage exhibitions – two per year, each in the first and the last three months of the year – the museum shows contemporary art by artists from Princenhage and Breda between April and September. There are also walking tours of the village, for example on village history, the van Gogh family or the resistance in the Second World War.
