About the museum
The Nederlands Wijnmuseum was opened on 28 April 1983 by the then Queen's Commissioner in Gelderland, Molly Geertsema, together with the Christie's wine auctioneer Michael Broadbent. It is a private museum located in the old wine cellars of the Arnhem wine house Robbers en van den Hoogen on Velperweg. The firm looks back on more than 180 years of family history, has held the title of Royal Supplier since 1992 and has belonged to the entrepreneur Adrian Kreter since 2025.
The exhibition leads through the stages of winemaking: from the vineyard and the vines, through the care of healthy grapes, the harvest and the crushing and pressing, to fermentation and bottling. It is complemented by objects relating to cultivation and enjoyment, such as corkscrews, bottles and sherry casks signed by well-known Dutch people.
Besides the museum, the house runs a wine shop, a wine bar, guided tastings and meeting rooms. This makes it possible to combine a museum visit with a tasting or a cellar visit.
