Ådnatun

About the museum

Ådnatun is a local history collection in Indre Arna in Bergen municipality. Older houses from the district stand here, together with collections of household goods and objects that tell of life in the Arna rural districts in the old days. The collection was founded by Lars Ådna, who gathered objects and furniture, and since 2011 it has been part of Museumssenteret i Hordaland (MUHO).

Visitors can see, among other things, a classroom from the 1950s and one of the first pharmacies established in western Norway. A library also belongs to the grounds.

The museum is much used by local associations. Arna Sogelag (Arna local history society) arranges cultural cafés and a pre-Christmas day with activities through the year, and together with Arna Husflidslag (Arna handcraft association) and other volunteers it offers a teaching programme every spring for all fifth-grade pupils in Arna. Ådnatun is open during the Arna Culture Days and by arrangement.
