About the museum
Antons Kulturhistoriske Senter lies at Frøland in Samnanger, near Tysse. The museum was started by Anton Kåre Drønen, who runs it with generous help from family and friends. It is housed in a disused school that was bought in 2007, and by 2010 the building had been fitted out and was ready for visitors.
The museum is a nostalgia museum with the main emphasis on the post-war period, especially the 1950s and 1960s. On the ground floor stands a number of old vehicles, mostly from these decades, surrounded by history and objects that belong to them. On the first floor visitors can walk through everyday life as it was some decades ago, with theme exhibitions that most people will recognise.
The museum is open one Sunday a month and has its own café with waffles, coffee, tea and soft drinks on opening days.
