About the museum
Hadeland Glassverk at Jevnaker is regarded as Norway's oldest craft company and has made glass since 1762. Today the site is a visitor centre with a glass-blowing hut, shops, eateries and activities, and both admission and parking are free. Visitors can follow the glassblowers so closely that they feel the heat from the furnaces, and they can blow their own glass or try their hand in the creative workshop Art Splash.
The museum Skattkammeret is the Glassworks' living museum and design exhibition. Over three floors it shows more than 260 years of Norwegian glass history, with historical objects, art glass, archive photographs and iconic design classics. Here old apothecary bottles meet modern art glass, and archive photographs meet award-winning design, from the earliest productions to newer expressions created by some of the country's leading artists and designers. One of the well-known designs is the glass “Siri”, designed by Willy Johansson in 1953.
Skattkammeret is open by arrangement. The Glassworks has ten shops and six eateries, including a factory outlet, a glass shop, a porcelain house and a bakery, and offers group visits, courses and experience days. Seasonal events include a Christmas market and autumn activities for the whole family.
