About the museum
Norsk Samferdselshistorisk Senter (Norwegian Centre for Transport History) is located next to Hønefoss railway station and is a gathering place for enthusiasts and groups with an interest in historic vehicles and trains. The centre preserves the transport history of the region, and its field of work covers trains, steamships, buses, cars, aircraft and motorcycles.
Among the collections is a restored Høka locomotive built in Hønefoss in 1964, and in this way the centre also safeguards parts of the local industrial history. The centre also documents the railway lines Bergensbanen, Randsfjordbanen and Roa-linjen.
Several motor history clubs are based in the area, among them Motorhistorisk Klubb Ringerike og omegn, Ringerike og omegn busshistoriske forening, Classic MC Hadeland Ringerike, Gutta i blårøyken and Ringerike MC Klubb. Car meets are held regularly. At the centre you can also try a flight simulator built into a real aircraft.
