About the museum
Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrik lies eight kilometres west of Mandal, where visitors can see how wool becomes finished woollen goods. The factory is a living museum factory where the machines are still in use, and it is one of the departments of Vest-Agder-museet.
Production includes spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing. What is made is sold in the museum shop and the online shop, and the products include woollen yarn, felt, woollen fabrics and woollen blankets.
For safety reasons visitors cannot walk through the factory on their own. In the summer there are guided tours, a wool workshop, a summer exhibition and a café, and groups can book visits all year.
