About the museum

Galeria Arsenał has been operating since 1965 and is a municipal cultural institution of Białystok. It deals with contemporary art: it prepares about twenty exhibitions a year, runs educational activities and builds its own collection. The collection called Kolekcja II (Collection II) has been built since 1992.

The gallery has two exhibition venues in Białystok. The main seat is the building at 2 ul. Mickiewicza, and the second venue, Galeria Arsenał elektrownia (Arsenal Gallery – Power Station), is at 13 ul. Elektryczna, with the entrance from ul. Świętojańska; it is opened only for the duration of exhibitions. The institution also organises exhibitions in other Polish cities and abroad.

The educational programme is aimed at children, young people, adults and groups, including people with disabilities. The website offers a film in Polish Sign Language and audio descriptions of works from the collection, and some staff have completed accessibility training.
