About the museum
The Gallery of Old Toys in Gdańsk is a private institution showing a collection gathered through many years of searching. All the exhibits are toys produced in Poland in 1920–1989, and the display is supplemented by original old catalogues and photographs that confirm the origin of the objects.
The toys reflect everyday life in past decades: the toy cars are miniature copies of vehicles driving on Polish roads, and the furniture and accessories for doll houses reflect the look of former interiors. The exhibition includes old dolls, teddy bears, doll-house furnishings, cars, agricultural vehicles, aeroplanes and pistols, as well as children’s musical instruments and board and arcade games.
The museum is at ul. Piwna 19/21 in the Main Town and is intended both for children, who get to know the toys of their parents and grandparents, and for adults, who can find memories of their childhood in them. For schools and organised groups a museum lesson adapted to the age of the participants has been prepared.
