About the museum
The Dwór Kauffunga (Kauffunga Manor House) at ul. Krzywa 1 is the oldest surviving residential building in Ząbkowice Śląskie; the first mention of it dates from 1504. Until 1945 it belonged to a succession of well-known Ząbkowice families; its last owner was the Catholic parish.
At the end of the 1960s, Józef Glabiszewski campaigned to save the neglected house. The Izba Pamiątek Regionalnych (Regional Heritage Room) opened on the ground floor of the building on 9 May 1972, and residents long called the manor “Glabiszówka” after him.
In the restored building visitors can see a preserved domestic chapel with sacred collections, a well about 20 m deep and 16th-century window columns. The 18 rooms present collections on the history of the town and the life of its inhabitants: archaeology, ethnography, household life, crafts, weapons, guild chests, burgher and Silesian furniture, early printed books, shooting targets of the Fowler Brotherhood (bractwo kurkowe), and old radios and televisions.
