About the museum
The Fiat 126p Museum in Bielsko-Biała was founded by the collector Antoni Przechodzień, who at first collected Trabants, but over time his main passion became the “Maluch” (“little one”, the nickname of the Fiat 126p). He set up the museum in the premises of a disused factory at ul. Karpacka 44 and registered it with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Over about thirty years he assembled a collection which he considers the only complete set of all the prototypes and factory-built variants of the Fiat 126p.
The hall houses, among other things, a green convertible, a version with a diesel engine, a Maluch on caterpillar tracks, a 1999 pick-up, an experimental off-road vehicle used by the 18th Airborne Battalion, a Citizens’ Militia (Milicja Obywatelska) police car with a place for a dog, a vehicle of the Military Internal Service (Wojskowa Służba Wewnętrzna) and a model equipped for a person with a disability. According to the owner, all the cars are in working order, registered and insured. Some have appeared in films, and many take part in car rallies.
The museum has no fixed opening hours: the owner personally guides each visitor, so a visit must be arranged by telephone, even for the same day. Admission is free in principle, and visitors may put any amount they like into a collection box.
