About the museum
The Hammond Museum was established in 2017 on the initiative of a private collector and the authorities of the City of Kielce. It operates within the administrative structure of the Dom Środowisk Twórczych – Pałac Tomasza Zielińskiego (House of Creative Communities – Tomasz Zieliński Palace) in Kielce. The new seat at ul. Zamkowa 5 was opened on 15 May 2021 during a ceremony attended by the director of the House of Creative Communities and the President of the City, combined with a musical performance on the playing stairs.
The exhibition tells the story of Laurens Hammond, his work and the invention that changed the world of popular music. It is divided into modules: History, Hammond in Poland, Hammond Club and My Hammond, and thematic halls: the Leslie hall, the Wojciech Karolak hall and the Andrzej Zieliński hall, connected with the band Skaldowie. The permanent exhibition includes, among other things, 63 organ models, 27 clock models, a bridge table and the playing stairs.
The museum also hosts concerts and musical events, including the annual Hammond Kielce Festival. Visitors can tour the museum individually or in groups, and the premium ticket allows them to play the organs themselves.
