About the museum
The Muzeum Konsol Gier Video (Video Game Consoles Museum) in Karpacz is a private institution which, according to its own information, was the first of its kind in Poland. It opened in 2015 in the building at ul. Mickiewicza 11, above the attraction Tajemnice Karkonoskie (Mysteries of the Karkonosze). The same building houses a private Muzeum Klocków (Brick Museum) devoted to technology and structures made of Lego bricks, with which the museum sells joint tickets.
The exhibition presents the history of gaming hardware and games from 1972, that is, more than forty years of the development of electronic entertainment. The collected consoles and computers show how the devices changed, from the first simple machines to later generations of hardware.
An important part of the visit is the stations at which visitors can play classic titles themselves on original hardware. The museum's website gives different numbers of stations (12 and 30), so it is not clear how many there are at present.
