About the museum
The Muzeum Tradycji Regionalnych (Museum of Regional Traditions) is housed in a Baroque palace, formerly the Pommersche Ständehaus, commissioned in 1726–1727 by the Prussian king Frederick William I. The building was designed by Gerhard Cornelius de Walrave. It served as the meeting place of the Pomeranian provincial diet and as the king's residence during his stays.
Between the wars the palace housed the Museum of the Pomeranian Province. After the Second World War the building was taken over by the West Pomeranian Museum, today the National Museum in Szczecin.
The interiors present above all Pomeranian art and regional treasures. The most valuable exhibits include a portrait of Duke Philip I by Lucas Cranach the Younger and the 16th- and 17th-century jewels of the Pomeranian dukes.
