About the museum
The Consultório da Memória (Memory Consulting Room) opened on 10 August 2019 as a tribute to Dr. Fernando Travassos, an emblematic figure of Ansião. The building, on Rua Políbio Gomes dos Santos, served as a prison until the second half of the 20th century and was then a municipal museum, among other uses.
In the historic space, where the iron bars still recall the former inmates, visitors can see personal objects linked to the doctor's profession and learn about his career, as well as his part in the economic, social and cultural life of the municipality.
