About the museum
The Museu da Miniatura Automóvel opened on 24 November 2007, next to the Paços do Concelho (town hall) of Gouveia. It came about through the availability of the collector Fernando Taborda, the commitment of the Câmara Municipal, the enthusiasm of the Clube Escape Livre and the support of the Automóvel Clube de Portugal.
The museum aims to show and promote the best miniature collections in the country. It has around 4,000 pieces on display, enriched with contributions from private collections. Its permanent collections include the Historical Evolution of the Automobile, World Rallies, the 3J collection and Presidential Vehicles, VIPs and Popemobiles, to which several temporary exhibitions are added.
In addition to the museum area, the museum runs events and playful-educational activities involving visitors, groups and collectors. It is housed in a historic building, so the visit route is exclusively by stairs.
