About the museum
The site dates back to the early 19th century, when Leandro Urrutia, who had made his fortune in Mexico, brought trees from America to plant on the grounds of his house. Some specimens are still standing and are around a hundred years old.
The house, with French and Modernist influences, is now the seat of the Güeñes town council. In the gardens around it, a collection of sculptures by Koldobika Jauregi, the Hermanos Roscubas, Ángel Garraza and Mikel Lertxundi has been gathered; they can be seen and also touched. The town hall and a glass building host exhibitions, talks and workshops.
