About the museum
The Casa-Museo de los Oficios y la Memoria opened in March 2014 in the lower part of Aibar (Navarre), about eight kilometres from Sangüesa. It occupies a rehabilitated farm building that once housed the former Aibar Threshing Society.
The museum presents the traditional culture of the area and past ways of life, with a focus on winemaking, oil production and bread-making. The single-storey space is organised into five areas: reception, exhibition and shop with local products; the vine and wine; the olive tree and oil, with a restored cooperative olive press (trujal); cereal and bread, with an oven that operated for more than a century; and a multipurpose room.
The display brings together machinery, tools, models, panels, old photographs and audiovisual material with testimonies from Aibar residents. The space is also used for talks, exhibitions, tastings, courses and workshops.
