About the museum
The Casa Museu del Voltreganès is a local history museum devoted to everyday life in the villages of the former barony of Voltregà, in the comarca of Osona. It was founded to keep alive the memory of how families in the area lived between the mid-18th and the mid-20th century, and its holdings consist of everyday objects donated and gathered by local residents.
Since 2012 the museum has occupied the former Comtes de Lacambra schools in Vinyoles, in the municipality of Les Masies de Voltregà. The Countess of Lacambra financed the building to make schooling accessible to the people of Vinyoles, especially the children of employees of the company La Farga Lacambra, and the school was opened in 1920. Since the move, the museum is spread across the ground floor and a first floor with a multipurpose space, and visitors can rest in the old school courtyard.
The route recreates the settings of a period house: the classroom with its blackboard, desks and old books, the kitchen, the dining room, the bedroom, the old latrine, a traditional village shop and a collection of tools from various trades. Panels and photographs explain work in the fields, the pig slaughter, the textile industry and local orchestras. La Petita Sala Rosa is used for audiovisuals, lectures and exhibitions.
