About the museum
The Centro Cultural Lola Flores occupies the former Nave del Aceite (Oil Warehouse) on the Plaza de Belén in Jerez de la Frontera, one of the few buildings completed from the Ciudad del Flamenco project. The building was renovated with European funds and inaugurated on 31 March 2023; it opened to the public on 1 April, as part of the municipal programme marking the centenary of the birth of the artist, who was born in Jerez in 1923.
The permanent exhibition traces the life and career of Lola Flores, singer, dancer and actress, who died in 1995. It brings together more than 200 items, among them dresses, batas de cola (flamenco dresses with trains), jewels, photographs, texts and drawings by the artist herself, together with films, interviews, recordings of her voice and of her performances, and the family album. The display also uses interactive screens, large-format photographs and virtual reality.
The centre is next to the plot where the future Museo del Flamenco de Andalucía is planned. Tickets are booked by day and time, although tickets are also sold at the centre depending on the available capacity, and all of them include an audioguide. Three days a year, linked to the artist’s life and to the patron saint of Jerez, open-door days are held with free admission.
