About the museum
The centre is in Antoñana, in the municipality of Campezo/Kanpezu, next to the former station of the Vasco-Navarro railway, known as El Trenico. The station belongs to the second construction phase of the Vitoria–Estella line, opened in 1927, and the service closed on 31 December 1967. The station area includes a large three-storey building and an electrical substation, which was built at this point because it was halfway between Vitoria and Estella.
The interpretation centre consists of three carriages imitating those of the Trenico. The first houses the tourist office of the Montaña Alavesa; the second is dedicated to El Trenico and offers information on routes and on the Izki Natural Park; the third recreates the original interiors of the railway, with tickets, images and uniforms of the period. Information is also given on the greenway that follows the old route, from Gipuzkoa to Estella (Navarre), with its stages and points of interest.
