About the museum
The interpretation centre is in Korres, the only village located within the boundaries of the Izki Natural Park, part of the municipality of Arraia-Maeztu in the Montaña Alavesa. It functions as a park house: it receives visitors, provides information on the network of paths for walking, horse riding and cycling, and organises guided visits and activities.
Its permanent exhibition presents the park's ecosystems (rivers, woodlands, wetlands and rocky outcrops), its fauna (the wildcat, birds such as the peregrine falcon, the Egyptian vulture and the short-toed snake eagle, as well as reptiles, amphibians and insects) and its flora, with beech woods, holm oak groves, alder woods, Pyrenean oak woods, birch woods, aspen groves and mixed forests. It also explains how the land has been used over time and how it can be used sustainably.
The centre runs environmental education programmes for schools at pre-school, primary, secondary and upper-secondary or vocational training level, as well as awareness campaigns.
