About the museum
The collection gathers, preserves and displays the historical legacy of the Spanish Legión. Its origins go back to 1940, when it was formed in Dar Riffien, in the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco. Today it is located in Ceuta, where the Tercio Duque de Alba 2.º de la Legión has its headquarters.
Among its holdings are objects related to the Moroccan War, the Civil War and the Ifni and Sahara campaign, as well as items from the peacekeeping missions the Legión has carried out under the UN and NATO flags in El Salvador, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon. The centre is state-owned and falls under the Ministry of Defence.
