About the museum
The Moorish Castle dominates the hillside above Gibraltar town and the land approach to the Rock. Its main feature is the Tower of Homage, a tower rebuilt around 1333, whose walls still show damage from several sieges that the fortress has withstood over the centuries.
The castle courtyard served as a prison until 2010. The castle is also one of the entrances to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, where tickets for the Reserve are sold, and the Second World War tunnels exhibition lies only a few steps away.
