About the museum
D'elikatuz opened in Ordizia in 2005 as an interpretation centre for the Goierri region and a space dedicated to food and gastronomy. It occupies the Casa Barrenetxe on Calle Santa María and was designed for all audiences, with an educational approach that appeals to both children and adults.
The building is spread over four floors. The ground floor houses the regional tourist office; the first floor presents the Goierri and its surroundings; the second floor deals with food and nutrition, and the third focuses on gastronomy, with three themes: Idiazabal cheese, the Ordizia market and Basque cuisine.
The centre is part of the Gastromuseums network, which brings together the Basque museums of food and gastronomy. In addition to the exhibition, it offers guided tours for groups, which can be combined with a walk through the old town of Ordizia, and a guided tour of the Ordizia market.
