About the museum
Ardixarra Etxea, also known as Don Garci, is a family house-workshop from the late 16th century and one of the few surviving examples of mid-level urban timber architecture in the historic centres of the Basque towns. The name Don Garci comes from Garcia Jauregi, a priest who lived there in the early 17th century; Ardixarra was the nickname of a former tenant.
On the ground floor are the tourist office and an audiovisual display on the history and culture of the town. The first floor shows building materials of the period and is used for exhibitions, and the second floor houses the Medieval Interpretation Centre, with three sections: history (the founding of the towns and the Camino de Santiago), urban planning (the urban form of Segura in the 15th and 16th centuries, with its walls) and society (social groups, factions, guilds and brotherhoods).
