About the museum
Landetxo Gunea brings together the Landetxo Goikoa farmhouse, which presents itself as the oldest in Bizkaia and dates back to 1510, and the Izenaduba forest, in Mungia. Until recently the site was known as Izenaduba Basoa, the park of Basque mythology and home of Olentzero.
The heritage visit to Landetxo Goikoa is a guided tour that explains the history of the farmhouse, its traditional architecture, the structure of the building, the materials and the way of life of the period, in relation to the surroundings and local culture.
The mythology visit is a guided walk through the Izenaduba forest, designed for families, school groups and other groups, during which characters, stories and corners of Basque mythology are discovered in a playful and participatory way. At Christmas, visits are organised around Olentzero and Mari Domingi, and throughout the year there are workshops and activities for families.
