About the museum
MUHBA Oliva Artés occupies a former factory workshop from 1920, dedicated to manufacturing and repairing machinery, in the Parc del Centre del Poblenou. The Talleres Oliva Artés operated from 1947 to 1997. Today it is a venue of the Museu d'Història de Barcelona (MUHBA), conceived as a participatory “laboratory” on the history and heritage of contemporary Barcelona.
The space works with local organisations, such as the Taula de l'Eix Pere IV, the Arxiu Històric del Poble Nou and the Associació de Veïns i Veïnes del Poblenou, and reflects the industrial heritage of this part of the city.
Its permanent exhibition, “Interrogar Barcelona. De la industrialització al segle XXI”, traces the development of the city from the 18th century to the present through work, demography, immigration, social conflicts, territory and industrialisation. The venue also offers temporary exhibitions, guided tours, itineraries, workshops, talks and other activities, as well as an educational programme for schools.
