Museu Can Framis

Museum of contemporary Catalan painting belonging to the Fundació Vila Casas, housed in a former textile factory in Poblenou.

Opening hoursAdmission €10

About the museum

The Museu Can Framis is the most recent project the Fundació Vila Casas has opened in Barcelona. It opened in April 2009 as a museum of contemporary painting and displays around 300 works by artists born or living in Catalonia, created from the 1960s to today.

The building was a late 18th-century textile factory owned by the Framis family, which eventually ceased operating and remained as a reminder of Poblenou's industrial past. The rehabilitation was carried out by the studio BAAS Arquitectos, and the museum now stands in the 22@ district, which has traded industry for innovation.

The permanent collection is renewed regularly and consists of painting. The A0 space at Can Framis also hosts temporary exhibitions. The museum is part of the Fundació Vila Casas network of venues, together with Espais Volart in Barcelona, Can Mario in Palafrugell and Palau Solterra in Torroella de Montgrí.
