Museum in the Ciudad del Agua in Ejea de los Caballeros on water and agriculture, with a large collection of historic farm machinery.

Opening hoursAdmission €2

About the museum

The Museo Aquagraria was founded on the initiative of the Fundación Aquagraria, a non-profit body working for the cultural, scientific and economic development of rural areas. It is located in the so-called Ciudad del Agua of Ejea de los Caballeros, next to the Estanca del Gancho. The foundation also runs the Casa del Colono, a tribute to the people who began the agrarian colonisation of Ejea in 1959.

The museum explains how water, agriculture and the ingenuity of local people have intertwined throughout Ejea’s history and given rise to a major agricultural machinery industry. The route, in a space of about 3,000 m², is organised in three areas: the power of water; the presence and absence of water in Ejea, with the extension of irrigation from the Canal de las Bardenas; and the transition from tradition to agricultural mechanisation.

The most outstanding feature is its collection of historic farm machinery, which brings together more than 80 pieces and traces the history of farming from the plough to today’s technology, including an emblematic tractor from 1914. The museum also offers thematic workshops for school groups and visits for associations and excursions.
