About the museum

The Museo de Etnobotánica forms part of the Real Jardín Botánico de Córdoba, a municipal site devoted to the conservation, research and dissemination of flora, especially Andalusian and Iberian flora. Tourist sources date its creation to 1980 and present it as a unique space showing the traditional uses of plants.

The exhibition focuses on traditional plant uses and their usefulness to people. It is visited together with the Paleobotany Museum, housed in another building within the same site, and with the garden’s other living collections: arboretum, rose garden, botanical school, touch-and-scent garden and display greenhouses with Canarian and American flora and orchids.

The garden is run by the Instituto Municipal de Gestión Medioambiental (IMGEMA) of the Córdoba city council and combines public visits with a seed bank (banco de germoplasma), a herbarium and environmental education programmes.
