About the museum
The Museo del Rosario in Aroche brings together a collection of several thousand rosaries from around the world, presented as one of the most unusual of its kind. Among the pieces are gifts and donations linked to Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the Spanish kings, other European royal houses and political figures such as Richard Nixon.
The museum is housed in the Convento de la Cilla, a 17th-century building erected when the Hieronymite order settled in Aroche. The visitor centre, with the information point of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park, is in the same building. The municipal archaeological collection, which shared this building for years, moved to a new site in 2024.
