About the museum
The Museo del Territorio de Ribadesella occupies a building from 1900 that was a school, funded by emigrants who had returned from the Americas (indianos). It was conceived to make known the historical, artistic, natural, ethnographic and industrial heritage of the municipality of Ribadesella, and to encourage visitors to explore the municipality's places of interest.
The ground floor is devoted to natural heritage, with particular attention to the Ordovician geological period. The upper floor traces the history of the town from its medieval origins to the 1930s, with topics such as fishing, trade, mining, emigration and beach tourism, and also displays original drawings by the humorist Antonio Mingote.
On its website, the Ribadesella town council lists the museum as closed and does not publish opening hours.
