Museo del Jurásico de Asturias (MUJA)

Museum with one of the best collections of dinosaur footprints in the world, in a building shaped like a three-toed footprint by the sea.

Opening hoursAdmission €7.21 Wheelchair accessible Café

About the museum

The MUJA is on the Costa de los Dinosaurios (Dinosaur Coast), between Colunga and Lastres, 155 metres above sea level. The building, designed by the architect Rufino Uribelarrea, has the shape of a large three-toed dinosaur footprint, and each toe represents one period of the Mesozoic: Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous.

The exterior is made of concrete panels with a copper roof that will gradually turn green, and the interior, of about 2,000 m², has a structure of wooden arches that recalls a dinosaur's ribs. The visit follows a chronological order, with the passage of time as its guiding thread.

The museum boasts the best collection of dinosaur footprints in Europe. Besides the permanent exhibition, it has an immersive room, a garden with replicas and a play area, a shop, a café and an auditorium.
