About the museum
The Museo Diocesano de Salamanca, also known as the Cathedral Museum, has been housed since 1953 in the chapter rooms of the Old Cathedral's cloister and in the Chapel of Santa Catalina. It was created to bring together in a single building the art kept in the city's two cathedrals, the Old and the New.
It is visited with the admission ticket for the cultural route through the cathedrals, which includes the New Cathedral, the Old Cathedral, the cloister and the chapter rooms, together with the exhibitions in the Episcopal Palace. The high altar of the Old Cathedral houses the altarpiece by the Delli brothers, with fifty-three panels, made in the first half of the 15th century. The route is fixed and compulsory, and the audio guide is included in the price.
