About the museum
The Museo Etnográfico El Labrador occupies a La Mancha windmill beside the bullring of Villamayor de Santiago. It is run by the town council, which set it up in collaboration with the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha and local residents, and it opened its doors in 2003.
It is a small, educational museum full of memories, designed as a tribute to farmers and day labourers. The exhibition follows a chronological order across three floors: the first two show farm tasks through the seasons of the year, and the third brings together panels of documents and a display on the cooking of Castile's dry lands. Popular trades and traditional costumes are also represented.
The windmill's esplanade is also used for outdoor activities, such as the concert cycle “Los Atardeceres del Molino” (The Mill's Evenings).
