About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación Pecados y Danzantes is devoted to explaining, in an educational way, the rite celebrated in Camuñas on Corpus Christi and on the Sunday of the Octave, with the very ancient dances of the Pecados (sinners) and the Danzantes (dancers), as well as the act of La Horca (the gallows), which takes place on the Friday after the Thursday of Corpus.
The centre is on the Plaza Vieja, next to the foot of the slope of Calle de la Tercia, on the site of a house of the Knights Hospitaller of St John of Jerusalem known as the “casa de la tercia”. It occupies a modern two-storey building, adapted and accessible, and its ownership is shared: it belongs jointly to the town council and the Asociación Cultural Pecados y Danzantes.
The route combines large-format photographs and explanatory panels with display cases showing the costumes of the main characters, caretas (masks), musical instruments and very old costume pieces, as well as bibliography and documentation on the festival. An interactive screen lets visitors choose among seven audiovisuals, subtitled in Spanish and English, which describe the different parts of the ritual.
